Okay, this is my blog,… Check it out from time to time,…

Hello all that know me, vaguely know me, or shall get to know me by visiting http://thehairybackedmafiososcollection.wordpress.com. I hope that this shall be the start of a learning and interesting experience for us all.

Why have I decided to do a blog?

Well, this blog was kindly created by my girlfriend Marisa. Actually, Marisa is a womanfriend with whom I’m romantically involved. She did all the leg work, or keyboard work, in registering with wordpress.

The “thehairybackedmafiososcollection” web-name was coined by my dear friend Meg. After emailing Meg the latest created recipe, she suggested that the “thehairybackedmafiososcollection” title my first cookbook. That is if I were ever to write one. That title was shared with Marisa. While we wait for the book she took the initiative and created this blog for me using Meg’s great title: “thehairybackedmafiososcollection”. A title with a few – okay one – hidden message.

As the title suggests, and my friends know – I have descended from the pool of genes half that originated on the boot of the Mediterranean with the other half from the isle of
Sicily. These genes have gifted me with a hairy-back and a propensity to prepare and enjoy food.

What is the goal with this blog? Simply to share my fabulous recipes and maybe a few musings. Sometimes as I cook the process is documented with pictures and words. Those pictures and words were emailed to those that I thought maybe interested. Now, with this blog – my recipes and thoughts can be journaled, reducing the need for large emails. Also, this is a good way to keep up with everyone – I look forward to your comments.

What else you may find here? Biblical commentary and other random thoughts that you may – or may not – find interesting. Some time ago Marisa and I agreed to read, study, and share our thoughts on Romans. So far we made it to Romans seven.

SHOCKING!!! Anthony (Tony for some) reading, studying, and commenting on the Bible! What’s this? Has Anthony become one of those born-again smorn-again Christians? That seems downright hypocritical. Especially for those that know me well – very well! What’s all this about?

For some time now (years and years) I’ve been thinking and contemplating about my, and our, human mortal existence. One can’t have thoughts about mortality and existence without contemplating God. Being raised Catholic and attending the obligatory weekly catechism; I never quite understood or grasped this whole G-d and Christ thing. Rightly or wrongly, Catholicism seemed nothing more than a bunch of sacramental rituals that had no practical bearing on my, or anyone else’s, everyday life. Ever go to Sunday Mass? It’s more like an aerobics session: Sit, stand, kneel, Sit, stand, kneel, Sit, stand, kneel. It all seemed silly: What was the point?

Getting to the point took years of effort learning about, appreciating, and finally acceptance of God of the Bible. I had to get over preconceived notions of non-Catholic Christians, born-again bible thumpers, misguided corrupted tele-evangelists and all the anti-Christian information secular society throws as us. This took years of reading titles from authors like, but not limited to, Scott Peck, C.S. Lewis, Nicky Gumbel, Rick Warren, Stephen Miller, and of course the Bible. That coupled with having frank talks, chats, and discussions with loving Christian and non-Christian friends – I got the point. The point: I accept, believe, and have faith in what Christ did for me (and you) by joining us on His earth, being crucified, and rising from the dead. I even go to worship at Holy Trinity Church. Religiously! Pun intended. More on this later,…

If no one has passed out yet, please visit thehairybackedmafiososcollection for more on faith, cooking, and other musings by the hairy-backed wonder that coined the term “That’s my opinion and you’re entitled to it,…”

I don’t promise to write everyday, but as often as time, desire, and life permits. Mark http://thehairybackedmafiososcollection.wordpress.com in your favorites and check-in from time to time. You may be amazed what you’ll learn.

I am impressed, I think I will mark it, but can you change romantically involved so my mother doesn’t faint.

To anthony’s woman friend: I think your Mom can handle it,…

I saw from the Holy Trinity website that someone had linked to us from your blog… so I came and had a look and was very impressed! As I do the website and go to Holy Trinity (10:30 service), I wondered if you’d find me and say hi one day! I’ll be the one with the fedora, carnation, rolled-up copy of the FT, wooden leg, etc.
